Installing the Resource File

Resource files tell the computer how to communicate with a particular type of peripheral device.  The AppleCD SC resource file is on the Macintosh CD Setup disk that comes with the AppleCD SC.  Proceed with the following steps to install the resource file:

1.  Turn on the Macintosh.

2.  Copy the CD Setup disk 
      onto your hard disk, if you 
      have one, or onto a blank 
      3.5-inch disk, this will be 
      your working copy.
      Put the original in a safe 
      place.

3.  Open the CD Setup disk icon.

4.  Open the Utilities folder.

5.  Open the Installer icon.

6.  Click the Drive button until 
     the name of your startup disk 
     is displayed in the upper 
     right corner of the Installer 
     window.

7.  Select the AppleCD SC from 
     the list of resources.

     You'll see a message at the 
     bottom of the window 
     indicating how much 
     memory will remain on the 
     disk after the resource is 
     stalled or removed.

8.  Click Install.

9.  When you get the message
     “Installation was successful,”
     click the Quit button.

10.  Remove the CD Setup disk 
       and put it away.

                    NOTE
The AppleCD SC resource should be installed in the System Folder on the startup disk.  Before you can use the AppleCD SC, turn it on and Restart the Macintosh.
